What is brass safety valve 

Brass safety valve is used to automatically remove various gases in the cold and hot water pipeline system, pressure vessels and air conditioners, while preventing water from overflowing, and preventing air in the pipeline from accumulating and obstructing the flow of water. The working medium is water, the nominal pressure is 1.6MPa, and the working temperature is -10℃≤ t ≤120℃.
Applications of brass safety valves                                                            
Brass safety valve is automatically opened and closed according to the working pressure of the pressure system, and is generally installed on the equipment or pipeline of the closed system to protect the safety of the system. When the pressure in the equipment or pipeline exceeds the set pressure of the copper safety valve, the pressure relief is automatically opened to ensure that the pressure of the medium in the equipment and pipeline is below the set pressure to protect the equipment and pipeline from working normally, prevent accidents and reduce losses.

Types of brass safety valves 


There are two main types of brass safety valve structures: spring type and lever type.

The spring type means that the seal between the valve clack and the valve seat relies on the force of the spring. 
The lever type relies on the force of the lever and the heavy hammer. With the need for large capacity, there is another impulse brass safety valve, also called pilot brass safety valve, which consists of a main brass safety valve and an auxiliary valve. When the medium pressure in the pipeline exceeds the specified pressure value, the auxiliary valve opens first, the medium enters the main brass safety valve along the conduit, and the main brass safety valve is opened to reduce the increased medium pressure.
The discharge volume of the brass safety valve is determined by the diameter of the valve seat and the opening height of the valve disc. It can also be divided into two types: the opening height of the micro-opening type is (1/15) ~ (1/20) of the inner diameter of the valve seat. The open type is (1/3) ~ (1/4) In addition, according to the different requirements of use, there are closed and unclosed types.
The closed type means that the discharged medium is not leaked, and all discharged along the specified outlet. It is generally used for toxic and corrosive media. The non-closed type is generally used for non-toxic or non-corrosive media.

According to its overall structure and loading mechanism
It can be divided into three types: heavy hammer lever type, spring type and pulse type.

1. Heavy hammer lever brass safety valve
The heavy-hammer lever-type brass safety valve uses a heavy hammer and a lever to balance the force acting on the disc. According to the principle of leverage, it can use a heavy hammer with a smaller mass to obtain a greater force through the increase of the lever, and adjust the opening pressure of the brass safety valve by moving the position of the heavy hammer (or changing the mass of the heavy hammer) .
The heavy-hammer lever-type brass safety valve has a simple structure, easy to adjust and more accurate, and the added load will not increase greatly due to the rise of the valve disc. It is suitable for high temperature occasions, and it has been more commonly used in the past. , Especially used in boilers and pressure vessels with higher temperature. However, the structure of the heavy-hammer lever-type brass safety valve is relatively heavy, and the loading mechanism is prone to vibration, and often leaks due to vibration; its return pressure is low, and it is not easy to close and maintain tightness after opening.

2. Spring slightly lifted brass safety valve
The spring slightly open brass safety valve uses the force of a compressed spring to balance the force acting on the disc. The compression amount of the spiral coil spring can be adjusted by turning the adjusting nut on it. With this structure, the opening (setting) pressure of the brass safety valve can be corrected as required.
The spring micro-opening brass safety valve has a light and compact structure, high sensitivity, unlimited installation position, and low sensitivity to vibration, so it can be used on mobile pressure vessels. The disadvantage of this brass safety valve is that the applied load will change with the opening of the valve, that is, as the valve flap rises, the compression of the spring increases, and the force acting on the valve flap also increases. This is detrimental to the rapid opening of the brass safety valve. In addition, the spring on the valve will reduce its elasticity due to the long-term impact of high temperature. When it is used on a container with a higher temperature, the heat insulation or heat dissipation of the spring is often considered, which makes the structure more complicated.

3. Impulse brass safety valve
The impulse brass safety valve is composed of a main valve and an auxiliary valve. The main valve is driven by the pulse action of the auxiliary valve. Its structure is complicated, and it is usually only suitable for boilers and pressure vessels with a large amount of safe discharge.
Among the above-mentioned three types of brass safety valves, spring-type brass safety valves are more commonly used.

Classified by medium discharge method
According to the different media discharge methods, brass safety valves can be divided into three types: fully enclosed, semi-enclosed and open.

1. Fully enclosed brass safety valve
When the fully enclosed brass safety valve is exhausted, all the gas is exhausted through the exhaust pipe, and the medium cannot leak outside. It is mainly used for the poisonous medium. Flammable gas container.

2. Semi-closed brass safety valve
Part of the gas discharged from the semi-closed brass safety valve passes through the exhaust pipe, and part of it leaks from the gap between the valve cover and the valve stem. It is mostly used in containers where the medium is a gas that does not pollute the environment.

3. Open brass safety valve
The valve cover of the open brass safety valve is open to make the spring chamber communicate with the atmosphere, which helps to reduce the temperature of the spring. It is mainly suitable for containers with steam as the medium and high-temperature gas that does not pollute the atmosphere.

Classified by valve opening size
Divided according to the ratio of the maximum opening height of the disc to the diameter of the brass safety valve flow channel, the brass safety valve can be divided into two types: a spring micro-open closed high-pressure brass safety valve and a spring full-open brass safety valve.

1. Spring micro-open closed high-pressure brass safety valve
The opening height of the micro-opening brass safety valve is less than 1/4 of the diameter of the flow channel, usually 1/40 to 1/20 of the diameter of the flow channel. The action process of the micro-opening brass safety valve is proportional action, which is mainly used in liquid occasions, and sometimes also used in gas occasions with very small emissions.

2. Spring full lift brass safety valve
The opening height of the full-open brass safety valve is greater than or equal to 1/4 of the diameter of the flow channel. The discharge area of ​​the full lift brass safety valve is the smallest cross-sectional area of ​​the valve seat throat. The action process is a two-stage action type, and it must be fully opened with the help of a lifting mechanism. The full-lift brass safety valve is mainly used for gas medium occasions.

3. Mid-lift brass safety valve
The opening height is between micro-opening and full-opening. It can be made into a two-stage action or a proportional action type.

Classified by principle of action
According to the principle of action, it can be divided into direct-acting brass safety valves and indirect-acting brass safety valves.

1. Direct acting brass safety valve
The direct-acting brass safety valve is opened under the direct action of the working medium, that is, relying on the working medium pressure to overcome the mechanical load imposed on the valve clack by the loading mechanism, so that the valve opens. This brass safety valve has the advantages of simple structure, rapid action, and good reliability. However, due to the structural loading, the load size is limited and cannot be used in high pressure and large diameter occasions.

2. Indirect acting brass safety valve
This type of brass safety valve can be divided into pilot brass safety valve and brass safety valve with power assist device. The pilot-operated brass safety valve is driven or controlled by the medium discharged from the pilot valve. The pilot valve itself is a direct-acting brass safety valve, and sometimes other forms of valve are used. The pilot-operated brass safety valve is suitable for high pressure and large diameter occasions. The main valve of the pilot-operated brass safety valve can also be designed to rely on the working medium to seal, or it can impose a much larger mechanical load on the disc than the direct-acting brass safety valve, so it has a good sealing performance. At the same time, its actions are rarely affected by back pressure. The disadvantage of this kind of brass safety valve is that its reliability is related to the main valve and pilot valve, the action is not as fast and reliable as the direct acting brass safety valve, and the structure is more complicated. The brass safety valve with power assist device uses a power assist device to force the brass safety valve to open when the opening pressure is lower than the normal opening pressure. This kind of brass safety valve is suitable for occasions where the opening pressure is very close to the working pressure, or where the brass safety valve needs to be opened regularly for inspection or blowing off sticky or frozen media. At the same time, it also provides a means to forcibly open the brass safety valve in an emergency.

Classified by pressure regulation
According to whether the pressure can be adjusted and classified, it can be divided into fixed non-adjustable brass safety valve and adjustable brass safety valve.

1. The pressure value of the fixed non-adjustable brass safety valve has been set at the factory and cannot be changed during use. It is commonly used in systems such as central air-conditioning, boilers, solar energy and other systems.

 2. The take-off pressure of adjustable brass safety valve can be set arbitrarily in a certain range according to the different needs of users. It is often used in occasions where the protection pressure of the system needs to be changed frequently, but the price is generally higher.

Classified by working temperature

1. Normal temperature brass safety valve is generally a brass safety valve with a temperature resistance of 110°C that is only installed on HVAC, air conditioning or water systems.

2. High-temperature brass safety valve refers to a brass safety valve with a temperature resistance of 180℃ specially used in solar energy systems and mold temperature control systems.
How to select brass safety valves                                                       
1. Brass safety valves for steam boilers, generally open full-open spring brass safety valves are used;
2. Brass safety valve for liquid medium, generally use micro-open spring brass safety valve;
3. Brass safety valves for air or other gaseous media, generally closed full-open spring brass safety valves are used;
4. Brass safety valves for LPG tank cars or LPG railway tank cars generally use full-lift built-in brass safety valves;
5. Brass safety valves for the exit of oil production wells, generally pilot brass safety valves are used;
6. For the high-pressure bypass brass safety valve of steam power generation equipment, the pilot brass safety valve with dual functions of safety and control is generally selected
7. If the brass safety valve is required to be opened regularly, a brass safety valve with a lifting wrench should be used. When the medium pressure reaches more than 75% of the opening pressure, a lifting wrench can be used to slightly lift the disc from the valve seat to check the opening flexibility of the brass safety valve;
8. If the temperature of the medium is high, in order to reduce the temperature of the spring chamber, generally when the temperature of the closed brass safety valve exceeds 300℃ and the temperature of the open brass safety valve exceeds 350℃, the radiator should be used. Brass safety valve;
9. If the back pressure at the outlet of the brass safety valve fluctuates and its variation exceeds 10% of the opening pressure, a bellows brass safety valve should be used;
10. If the medium is corrosive, a bellows brass safety valve should be used to prevent important parts from failing due to medium corrosion.
